Wow a traveling tool museum! That is great. I live near Amish country in Ohio and it’s always amazing to see some of the tools they use.
That particular silver trowel was supposed to be presented to Alexander Whitelaw Esq. (M.P. of Glasgow) by the Harbour Trustees of Ayr, Scotland on 19th Sept 1876. Whitelaw was asked to preside over the foundation-stone laying ceremony of the Ayr Harbour project (he was unable to attend due to sickness). There were several silver trowels given out at this ceremony as was common practice in that era.

BYO overcoat. OMGoodness that trowel is a stunner…. Anyone got any more details on that one? Looks like Ayr Harbor Trustees presented to a Mr Walsh..?
I doubt it, Kari, but I’d be willing to bet that the WIA t-shirt booth is located at the exit of the museum for those who need dry clothes.
