Don Rosebrook, past-President of the Early American Industries Association (EAIA), a prominent member of the Mid-West Tool Collectors Association (M-WTCA) and author of “Wooden Plow Planes,” “American Levels and Their Makers” and “America Level Patents Illustrated and Explained,” died Monday following a brief illness.
Carl Bilderback, a longtime friend of Don’s, said that in addition to his love for plow planes and levels, Don was an avid collector of high-end saws, and was planning a book on them as well as a follow up volume to “American Levels and Their Makers,” which would cover makers from the Western United States.
Don was also an prominent environmental scientist, known in particular for his work with major oil spills.
He is survived by his wife, whom he called Pam.
I never had the pleasure of meeting Don, but I know many of you likely knew him well; I encourage you to post notes and remembrances below, which I’ll make sure to pass along to his family.
