Laser-guided saws keep getting better. Delta’s newest 12-in. compound-miter saw features a double-laser system. According to the manufacturer, the two beams show the exact line of cut on both sides of the blade at any simple or compound angle. This means you can make cuts from the left or right, without having to compensate for the blade’s kerf. The factory-set lasers can be adjusted if you install a blade with a different-sized kerf.
The laser beams operate independently from the motor, so you can activate them without having the blade running—an important safety feature. Lasers are good for saw safety; if the beam shows on your hand, don’t cut! Delta says the beams are even bright enough to show up when you take the saw outside.
