For the entire month of June, or until it’s sold out, ShopWoodworking.com is offering the perfect Father’s Day gift. It’s called the Fundamentals of Inlay Value Pack and it’s currently on sale for $99.96, saving you $60 off the regular price of $159.96. The kit includes:
Modern power tools can help you make quick work of time-consuming traditional inlays. Popular Woodworking Magazine Senior Editor Glen D. Huey teaches you how to create clever plywood patterns from photos and drawings. RETAIL: $24.99
Learn quick, precise methods of inlay work – Steve Latta is an excellent teacher of the craft. In this DVD he demonstrates string inlay on furniture legs and explores the traditional Pennsylvanian Line & Berry motif, inlaid on a spice box door. RETAIL: $40.00
Building on the techniques demonstrated in his first DVD, “Fundamentals of Inlay: Stringing, Line & Berry,” Steve Latta shows how to master more complex inlay designs using several Federal table leg styles. The Federal table leg is a traditional example, but these inlay elements can be used in other ways limited only by your imagination. RETAIL: $40.00
This almost four-hour DVD by Robert Millard follows the process of building a Federal-style inlaid drawer, from the milling of the stock, to the installation of the hardware. Many of the processes shown are universal, such as the dimensioning of components, dovetailing, fitting drawer bottoms and applying and rubbing out shellac. Others are more specialized, such as hammer veneering and inlaying the drawer fronts, but even these are adaptable to a wide range of projects. RETAIL: $28.00
Not only do you get these four DVDs plus three sets of plans (two for a Pennsylvania Spice Box and one for a Federal Inlay Table), but we’re throwing in Millard’s incredible double-bladed inlay knife. This is the knife that Millard uses in forming grooves for curved lines of stringing. It has two X-Acto blades that adjust, with spacing from 1/32″ to approximately 7/32″. You can check out a video of the knife here:
Here are some supplies and tools we find essential in our everyday work around the shop. We may receive a commission from sales referred by our links; however, we have carefully selected these products for their usefulness and quality.
Or atleast some plans on how to make one?
I wanna buy just the knife from this video, Is there a way to do that?
