Woodworkers often labor without a lot of recognition or reward. If you have a project that utilizes veneer, here is a chance to get both. VeneerTech, a North Carolina based supplier of veneer is calling for entries for its annual Craftsman’s Challenge, open to all woodworkers. The six categories run the gamut from architectural woodwork to student work, with a $1000 prize for each category and a $3000 grand prize.
Visit the website for details, and be sure to spend some time looking over the archive of entries from previous years. It’s an impressive body of work by makers from all over the country and all levels of experience. Last year’s grand prize winner was a high school student. Entries are due by June 11, 2010 and winners will be announced at the IWF in Atlanta in August.
The picture above is a sampling of last year’s winners. If you have a project that uses veneer, why not take a shot and enter? I’ve been asked to be one of this year’s judges, and I’m looking forward to spending a couple of days in veneer visual overload.
