Visiting the ICFF gave me a chance to meet and talk to many presenters and companies. Still, perhaps the most rewarding and encouraging conversations that I had were with young makers, especially students of furniture design and woodworking that had recently finished their courses of study in the nation's leading institutions. I was able to do so thanks to a collaboration between the Furniture Society and the organizers of the ICFF who facilitated the showcasing of their work. The Furniture Society's student's exhibit took place in the middle of the ICFF floor and was frequented by many.
Among the presenters was Byron Conn, a recent graduate form RIT who brought with him an impressive bench, named "Bonsai Bench". This furniture is quite a masterpiece of design and craftsmanship.
Next time I will show a chair by another student who used an advanced laminating technology to create a splendid seat.
