Watch this beautiful preview of the new DVD from Lie-Nielsen Toolworks on Peter Follansbee’s “17th Century New England Carving,” which will be available in early fall 2010.
You’ll get to see some of Peter’s work and Plimoth Plantation, where he works. If you’re not in love with 17th-century furniture and methods, this preview (and seeing Peter’s work) could change your mind.
And if you can’t wait to get a dose of Peter, visit his blog “Joiner’s Notes.“

Here are some supplies and tools we find essential in our everyday work around the shop. We may receive a commission from sales referred by our links; however, we have carefully selected these products for their usefulness and quality.
Wow, those pieces are amazing! I’ve never thought about trying to carve, but I might need to reconsider.
I look forward to this very eagerly. It’s amazing to watch Peter work. I have the great fortune to live 20 miles or so from Plimoth Plantation. Now I can watch him in my living room.
Chris –
Do you know if Peter will talk about harvesting and splitting your own lumber in the video? I have been trying to learn this on my own, but I haven’t found to many resources.
