Join Gary Rogowski of the Northwest Woodworking Studio (and Popular Woodworking contributor), along with David Yepez and Roger Benton (whom you may have met during their travels around the country with the Lie-Nielsen Hand Tool Events) for a day of woodworking fun and education at Makeville Studio in Brooklyn, N.Y., Saturday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
David and Roger will share the practical information you need to get your handplanes ready to touch wood in two sessions: sharpening and handplanes. Then, Gary will teach you about three simple hand-applied finishes in the afternoon session. (Register for the entire day, and lunch is provided.)
Read more about the event (and find out about Gary’s special offer to sharpen your card scraper) on the Northwest Woodworking Studio web site.

p.s. Can’t make it to Gary’s class? He teaches you how to make custom pulls for your work in “Handle with Care” in the February 2012 issue, and shows you, start to finish, how to make an elegant ash jewelry box in the June 2011 issue. Plus, you’ll find his technique for leveling legs in our current issue (February 2013), with more from him to come!
p.p.s. Makeville Studio sounds like a nifty place – worth checking out, especially if you live in or around New York City.
Here are some supplies and tools we find essential in our everyday work around the shop. We may receive a commission from sales referred by our links; however, we have carefully selected these products for their usefulness and quality.
