I transformed this dresser for my daughter, who didn’t like the way her husband’s metal tool chest looked in their apartment. For these newlyweds, shop space wasn’t in their budget and he needed a place to park his tools.

My daughter had always liked this old relic, which occupied a corner of our attic for years. I simply knocked apart the two middle drawers and attached the fronts to a piece of plywood. I removed the divider that originally separated the two drawers and installed new plywood shelves, using the drawer runners as supports. I mounted the new door with a continuous hinge and installed a spring catch to hold it closed. My daughter loves the stylish addition to their décor and my son-in-law is happy to have his tools handy.
