I just finished the "Nordic-Style Bentwood Box' that was featured in your Dec-Feb 2009 magazine. I am 64 years old, and It was the best project I have ever attempted. My hat is off to Jim Anderson, thank you.
I had to resaw black walnut flooring which I have never attempted before, it worked out fine. I used red oak for the top and horses. I made my own tray from sheet metal I found in the heating and a/c ducting section at my local home improvement center. I used two pieces of angle iron to form the tray and then soldered the ends in place. I brought my two burner BarB-Q in the garage to heat the water and steam the walnut before bending.
I bought a chair caning kit for $19 for the cane I needed, I now have enough for several hundred boxes. I cant wait to start my next Tine. Again, Thank you very much, Bill Ferry
