To make perfect face frames, I check and I identify each of the joints with letters.
Since I want to assemble the face frames with biscuits, I mark the exact location of the biscuits so they won’t interfer with the futur decorative cutout of the lower rail. I mark the center of the #20 biscuits on the stiles. The use of my shopmade biscuit gauge is ideal for this task.
Since the upper rail is narrower, actually 2-1/4" while the lower rail is 5-1/8", I'm using #0 biscuits to join the upper rails and #20 biscuits to join the lower rails.
The face frames are glued, assembled and clamped.
