I’ll admit right here, I haven’t done a lot of turning in my many years of woodworking. Not that it wasn’t appealing, but it wasn’t what was required at the time. Cabinetry and furniture paid the bills, and I tended to think of turning as a recreational, or an artistic endeavor. Why am I sharing this with you? Because there is a new collection of six turning projects available from our friend Tim Yoder. And, to be honest, half of these projects are holiday themed. So why should you buy a video on making LED Christmas trees in February? Because they’re very cool…and if you’re a turner like me, you might get it right in time for Christmas! Though, in praise of Tim’s instruction, he can even make me a better turner!
Beyond the Christmas trees, this video collection has two of my favorite projects Tim has created for “Woodturning with Tim”. Making Mushrooms is just fun and offers an outlet for your creative side like no other project. And although in the holiday theme, his Inside-Out Ornaments are as much a jumping-off point for beautiful sculpted pieces that are only limited by your imagination. Both of these projects are just delightful and make me want to dig out my lathe.
So whether you need a jump on holiday gift ideas (like me), or are ready to push your imagination by using Tim’s techniques, you’ll find some great ideas in this newest collection of woodturning projects. Enjoy!
