Mid-Century Modern Furniture Plans

Thanks for all the great comments! Congratulations to “kevinbraddock,” the winner of this book giveaway. Stay tuned for more exciting book giveaways and if you’re interested in a copy of “Mid-Century Modern Furniture” it is currently available at ShopWoodworking.com.

This week’s book giveaway is for Michael Crow’s “Mid-Century Modern Furniture: Shop Drawings & Techniques for Making 29 Projects.” The book includes mid-century modern furniture plans for a number of great projects by designers like Hans Wegner, George Nelson, Borge Mogensen, George Nakashima, Finn Juhl and others.

We published this book a couple of years ago and lately I’ve been revisiting it because I’m currently working on Michael’s new book – a book of techniques and shop drawings for Mackintosh furniture designs. “Mackintosh Furniture” will compile shop drawings for 28 furniture designs along with a look at a few different methods for creating some of Mackintosh’s signature details. The book will be published in November of 2017.

Mackintosh tabouret

This round taboret will be featured in Michael Crow’s “Mackintosh Furniture: Techniques & Shop Drawings for 28 Designs” (November 2017).

In the meantime, I have a copy of the “Mid-Century Modern Furniture” book to give away. Simply post a comment below and on winner will be chosen at random (winner will be announced Monday 5/15). Good luck!

I was looking at this book the other day when I was thinking that I needed to make a mid century lounge chair like the one on the cover.

I’m mid-century modern myself (just don’t ask which century) and I love the furniture from that era. This book looks great.

I built several projects in the Arts and Crafts edition and now am in a MCM rambler with new furniture tastes. Perfect timing to build the furnishings!

My father was a wood craftsman. Recently my 27 yr. old son said he would like to learn how to build furniture like my father used to. This would be a great book to start that off with. Something that mother and son could do together and make something my father would have been proud of.

    Mid century! My favorite!

this would be a really great book to break into furniture making… combining this with Christopher Schwarz’s Anarchist’s Design Book would be a fun thing to do!

I’ve never built any mid-century modern furniture. Might be time to give it a go.
