The Woodworking in America conference is an opportunity to indulge in sensory overload, and for the third year in a row, I’ll be doing my part to keep your head spinning by teaching two different sessions on using our favorite design and planning tool, Google SketchUp. On Friday morning at 9:30 and Sunday morning at 9:00 the topic will be SketchUp Essentials. Saturday morning at 9:30 and Sunday morning at 11:00 the topic will be The SketchUp Gold Mine. Both of these classes are aimed at using SketchUp as a tool for woodworking.
SketchUp Essentials will cover the common issues most people stumble over when learning to use the program. If you’ve tried to use SketchUp and found yourself lost in a sticky mess of vector lines, I’ll show you how to get your bearings, regain your composure and start modeling effectively.The SketchUp Goldmine will cover all the amazing things you can do with a complete model.
You don’t need to learn all the ins and outs of creating SketchUp models, you can use one of the models available in the Popular Woodworking SketchUp Model collection. Like SketchUp, our collection is absolutely free. I’ll show you how to take a model apart using a few simple commands, how to take measurements and how to set up to print any view you want to take to the shop and build.
